Future or Past?

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

I spend more time thinking about the future. The past is gone. I can’t do anything to change it. But the future; the future is open. It has not yet come to be, so it feels as though the possibilities are almost limitless.

Sure, there are no guarantees. But the future is something I can work towards improving and doing better in. The past; it’s over with. I can’t do anything to adjust it no matter how hard I try. I think about the past sometimes, but try not to dwell on it.

It is important to learn from the past. I need to remember the past and think about it so that I can better change the future. But if I’m only focused on the past, the future will likely become just like my past. I need to reflect on the past, what went well and what didn’t, and then make adjustments for the future, as I shift my focus on what is yet to come.
