With today being Martin Luther King Day, I thought I would do something a little different; I’m writing about a quote from Martin Luther King….
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. ” Martin Luther King, Jr.
To me, this quote means that the day we become silent about the things that really matter, our lives begin to stop. When we become silent about the things that matter, whether it’s a political issue, religion, or something in our life that really matters to us, a little piece of us stops living.
When we continue to stay silent, when we become silent about more issues and cease to express our ideas, and opinions, a part of us dies. If one continues down this path, more and more of you dies, and eventually you will cease to live.
It may be that your life ends because you give up, but it may also be that your life is taken from you because the very things you should have spoken up against have come to be and those things will cost you your life. We need to speak out about what really matters.
